Our Services

Age Groups

Early Childhood: We provide services to children aged 2-5 using evidence based intervention approaches such as Hanen principles.
Primary School: We service students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and work closely with parents and teachers to ensure that the therapy is tailored to the student's individual needs.
High School: We provide therapy services to high school students up until the age of 16.

Settings

At home: Therapy can be provided at your home. This is effective because it happens in the child's naturalistic setting.
School/daycare/childcare: Path to Speech can provide services at your child's school, daycare or childcare.
Telehealth: We offer therapy services online, Australia wide including not limited to regional and rural areas through our inclusive approach that enables our clients to be at the comfort and familiarity of their own home.

Communication

What is it?

Communication is expressing our needs, wants, thoughts and feelings.

What can delayed communication look like?

A child who has difficulty with communication may use their body language to communicate needs, they may also appear frustrated or struggle to get their words out.

How we can help?

We provide children with the strategies and tools to express themselves to their full potential using an evidence-based, naturalistic approach.

Language

What is it?

Receptive language is the understanding of written, visual and verbal information as well as following instructions.
Expressive language is the use of language (vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and sentence length).

What can delayed language look like?

Children may have difficulties with understanding and responding to questions and following instructions in a childcare or classroom. They may also talk in shorter sentences for their age, make grammatical errors, not be able to keep up in conversation and use simple vocabulary.

How we can help?

We support our clients to develop their language skills using language stimulation strategies and work closely with parents, teachers and educators to make sure that our clients achieve their goals.

Social Skills

What is it?

Skills needed to interact with people and make friends.

What can delayed social skills look like?

Children that have difficulties with their social skills may prefer to be alone, not know what to say to others or have the ability to keep conversations going, not understand what other people are thinking or feeling, they may also overshare their thoughts or are quiet around others.

How we can help?

We work with parents and children collaboratively to develop the areas of social skills that the child needs support with. We use evidence based activities such as social stories, role playing, scripts and video modelling.

Literacy

What is it?

Reading, writing and spelling skills.

What can delayed literacy development look like?

The child may be falling behind at school with their reading, writing and spelling activities. They may refuse to complete homework tasks at home. They may appear uninterested in the classroom during these activities.

How we can help?

We use a highly structured synthetic phonics program to help develop reading and spelling skills. We tailor therapy and work closely with the school curriculum as well as with teachers and parents to get the best outcome for the child.

Speech

What is it?

Speech are the sounds that make up spoken language.

What can delayed speech development look like?

Speech that is hard to understand by parents or other people. You may notice articulation errors or that speech sounds are replaced by another sound.

How we can help?

We can help by assessing the child's speech development, identifying the speech sound errors and teaching the child how to produce the sounds.
